Wood Wool Cement Board (WWCB) is a versatile building material made from wood wool (excelsior) and cement. The world wide acceptance of WWCB proves its versatility in applications and its durability in any climatic condition.
The main properties are:
- Excellent acoustic performance – sound absorption
- Fire resistance (in both B1 and A2 class)
- Good thermal insulation, providing energy savings
- Wide range of design solutions
- Documented sustainability
- Strong contribution to a “Healthy Indoor Climate” (emission-free)
- Good Product Life Cycle (incl. Cradle-to-Cradle certificate)
- Wet and dry rot resistance, as well as freeze-thaw resistance
Fire resistance
WWCB has been tested and classified in both standard B-s1,d0 class, as well as the higher A2-s1,d0 class (non-combustible), in according to EN 13168 and EN 13964 (acoustic ceiling panels)
Wet and dry rot resistance
The boards are used for interior and exterior applications and in moist conditions such as ceilings in indoor swimming pools.
Termite and vermin resistance
Tests have proven that WWCB is not vulnerable to attack by termites or vermin, nor is WWCB subject to any biological decay.
Thermal insulation
Due to its relatively low density, WWCB has good thermal properties. The maximum thermal conductivity for boards of 25 mm thickness is 0.090 W/mK.
For 2- or 3-layer composite panels, the thermal conductivity will be further reduced, when a core of respectively rigid foam (e.g. polystyrene) or mineral fiber has been applied.
Excellent Acoustic performance
Unfinished (or spray-painted) WWCB has very good acoustic absorption properties since the open surface structure allows for a high level of sound absorption.
Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) & Product Life Cycle information
The various EPD’s on WWCB can be obtained from the websites of our renowned European clients (or be forwarded by Eltomation upon request).
Our Clients (WWCB producers) have furthermore obtained relevant international classifications and certificates, including: Cradle-to-Cradle Silver Certificate, Danish Indoor Climate Labelling, UK’s ‘Allergy Friendly Product Award’, ANAB – Certified Product for Green Building, NaturePlus sustainability certificate, etc.
Finishes
Wood Wool Cement Board accepts all kinds of conventional rendering, plastering, decorative materials and mastics. Acoustic ceilings can be spray- or roll-painted while retaining its acoustic properties.
The following Wood Wool Cement Boards are common:
- Standard WWCB
- Fine-fibre Acoustic and Decorative WWCB
- Composite WWCB (sandwich boards with a core sheet of Styrofoam, PU foam, Rockwool, or other insulating material)
- Reinforced Roofing WWCB
Standard dimensions and density of WWCB
Length: 2400 mm (4 ft), optionally up to 3000 mm (optionally cut into 600 or 1200 mm length, e.g. for acoustic ceiling panels)
Width: 600 mm (2ft)
Thickness: 15mm, 25mm, 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, 100mm
Product densities typically vary from 360 – 570 kg/m3, subject to board thickness and application (thinner boards have a higher density than thicker boards).
Designs and aesthetic
Boards are produced and applied in “natural colors” with either white or grey cement or can be spray-painted in a wide range of colors
Various profiles and bevels can be provided on the boards edges. A new development is the production of DECORATIVE WWCB Panels in various shapes or WWCB provided with a wide range of decorative grooves and patterns on the board surface.
